We stopped in since this is one of the few museums we have not been to. I was disappoint. I did not find the art inspiring. I was very bored. This place was not for me
I was walking up The Mall, noticed some sculptures and decided to have a look. It was actually quite interesting as there were quite a few dotted around the gardens. Even though it was a miserable day when I visited I still spent some time...More
I remember the Hirshhorn fondly from my childhood. It was super cool and contemporary. I felt the same way about the Eero Saarinen TWA building at JFK airport. Now, however, the museum feels a bit dated. Some good temporary exhibits, but works from the permanent...More
We toured thoroughly the museum and the sculpture gardens which were simply wonderful and we were lucky with a sunny day. The most impressive exhibition was was Mark Bradford's mural artwork which was created in the mixed media technique, using all sorts of found materials...More
The museum is free. There isn’t a whole lot inside, but what is there inspires some new perspectives on society. Several floors (elevators and stairs). Small Gift shop on -1st floor.
Modern and interactive art. Recommended to me by an Uber driver originally from DC. So glad she told me about this place because we wouldn’t have stopped here otherwise. Currently have an 80s exhibit going on that was fun! Even my 7 and 10 year...More
We only saw the Sculpture gardens. They are just off the Mall so walk thru and see what they have to show. Some famous pieces! Worth a stop.

This may be the least visited of the mall museums, but if you have any interest in modern art, it’s a must. The kids didn’t love it, but I sure did. The sculpture garden is wonderful.
Enlightening exhibit of works by China's provocative artist, Ai Wei Wei. Portraits of human rights activists from around the world done in Lego blocks and displayed on the ground.
