Having read in the New York Times about a new exhibit, we decided to check it out and went to see an exhibit entitled "Outliers and American Vanguard Art". It was most unusual, thorough and well-presented. The curator had clearly investigated the subject matter and...More

The buildings themselves are fantastic. We specifically went to see the Impressionists painting and we were not disappointed. You can walk through a tunnel to the second building.

It can be confusing, but the National Gallery of Art houses several collections including the Portrait Gallery (of American presidents) as well as modern art and amazing traveling exhibits.

We only had an extra 1.5 hours left in Washington DC so we chose this museum. Great collection from all the masters! Will be back when we have more time!

I have visited this place with school groups in both high school and while at Unversity and have also gone back solo as an adult. Each visit has been great.

I love the National Gallery, but unfortunately too many visits there have been marred by brusk, officious security guards who appear to have been trained to focus intently on children. My kids have visited art galleries throughout the country and nowhere have they been treated...More

21st January 2018. Not easy to see Vermeers in the US, so well worth a special trip to visit this exhibition!

I visited midday on a weekday, and there was no line. Though busy, it was not crowded.
