We've been to museums in many of the big cities and this one was very frustrating to navigate based on the map provided. Very little information is given as to where anything is and the rooms are not clearly marked. We found ourselves lost a few times though the staff were very helpful getting us turned back around. Some really... More

I came during the night hours during the Christmas market. The artwork is eclectic and awe inspiring. Take advantage of the free audio tour as they give a good description of what inspired the artist to paint their artwork. Also the whole gallery is free to the public.

There's a zillion reviews and photos from this museum and I just want to add 1) After Lincoln Memorial this is the place to go, the rest of D.C. can wait. 2) Do NOT miss the tunnel between the west and the east building. It's a fantastic experience in itself.

Washington D.C. is my all-time favorite town, and the National Gallery is my all-time favorite D.C. place to visit. A guided tour (though I've never taken one) would be a great place to start if you need a little help or are on a schedule. I prefer to go alone and linger long over the pieces I love or want... Even if you're not an art lover, this place is a must! East Wing is modern art. West wing is European & American art. Great gift shops, cafes. Loved the Della Robbia exhibition!

I have to admit I'm not the 'art person' but I've visited lots of art museums such as the Met, Philadelphia museum of art and so on. Well, each art museum has its own attractions. But if you've visited this one and no matter you think it's good or not, don't miss the Met!

This is a great place that allow you access to things you never thought you would be able to get so close to. Make sure you bring good walking shoes and if possible don't bring a backpack. They asked that you use the backpack with only one side so as not to hurt the art. That can get very tiring... More

Very clean and interesting. The cafe inside has excellent sandwiches, gelato, and coffee, and was pretty big.

My husband and I loved the Impressionists exhibition. The Van Gough, Monet, Manet and more were all there to impress. Some artists were there with their easel and copying the originals. The headsets you can rent were worth using since the descriptions of the pieces made the art come to life. They have free docent lead tours that looked like... More
