The furniture exhibition with famous presidential portraits scattered between the furniture was a terrific "twofer" (two exhibits in one space) allowing the portraits to look like they were just hanging in a living room or dining room like a personal home. The gift store was...More

Normally we do not visit any of the art museums because of our kids, but boy are we happy that we did! Not sure who loved it more, us or our kids. Spectacular art in beautiful surroundings!

Spend two hours like we did recently walking through the West Building's permanent collection and enjoy this museum's superb collection of Western art. Favorite galleries include late 19th century American painters, including Winslow Homer. Also check out the surreal work of Hieronymus Bosch in the...More

I always visit the National Gallery of Art when I visit D.C. The special exhibits this trip included a salute to the philanthropy of Paul Mellon who donated hundreds of works of art to the museum. A lovely selection was on display as well as...More

You can see everything here. The galleries walk you through all the different eras and styles. We were there on a Saturday and it wasn't that busy. Know that you can't bring in water bottles and they don't have lockers to store things. There is...More

The building and interior decoration are amazing. The cafeteria on the concourse and the waterfall are beautiful. The arts are wonderful. The staff were friendly. There are a few entrances to the gallery building.

I always enjoy the National Gallery. One wing was under construction but there was still a great exhibit of works from the collection of Paul Mellon.

We spent many hours here enjoying the collection. It would be hard to give this museum the time it deserves on a first trip to Washington, but we were in the city for other reasons and just focused here. The American collection is the best.

Yes you can be dropped right at the handicapped entrance. I am not sure if they have wheelchairs or scooters available. You can check their website. It is very user friendly with ramps and elevators and super nice staff!
