My wife and I, my daughter and her husband, attended jazz night at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. We had never been before. The admission was only five dollars a head and before hand you have soul food downstairs. The jazz was good and the food was good as well. I was surprised at the quality of the music. The atmosphere... More

I just returned from a wonderful Jazz Night. Talented and entertaining musicians playing wonderful Jazz! Easily worth more than $5.00, so please add a donation to support the church. If you want yummy, home made comfort food then head down stairs to the community room. You have your choices of entrée: Salmon Cake, Fried Catfish, Pulled BBQ Pork, Chicken and... More

A great time for only $5.00. Had a chance to hear local vocalists Bonnie Harris and Julian Hipkins Jr sing some old school tunes along a number of Christmas favorites.

I am so happy to have been introduced to the Jazz Night at Westminster Presbyterian Church. I was pleasantly surprised and the food downstairs was so delicious. I met some lovely people there as many of them are regulars and they know a new face upon entering. The atmosphere was delightful, the people so friendly and the music was outstanding.... More

NYC might be the epicenter of the jazz world but that brings with it a lot of tourists and "aficionados" in the jazz clubs that add little to this spontaneous, participatory art form. The greatest jazz performances always feed off the audience and Westminster provides the sustenance that jazz artists crave. Quote Parker, Trane or Miles in your solo and... More

I live in the Washington DC Metro area approximately 20 minutes from Westminster Presbyterian Church. I also go quite regularly to Jazz Night which is always Friday night from 6-9 pm and the cover is only $5 per person. Jazz Night is a gem here in DC and is devoted to the preservation of straight ahead jazz (50's-60's, Miles Davis,... More

This is a great place to see a wide range of blues bands for a great price. Yes, at first, its a bit strange to be inside a church, but it really is a great set up. And the diversity of the audience is what churches should have but rarely do. Doesn't take long to feel comfortable dancing in the... More

This weekly event offers jazz as it is at its marrow: unpretentious, straight-ahead, and soul stirring, whatever the tempo. The atmosphere is as democratic as it gets: everyone pays $5.00. Those who get the front seats are those who arrive first. Strangers talk with one another. Arrive late and can't find a seat? The volunteers will help find one for... More

What a treat this was after doing the DC civic/historic attractions gauntlet the 2 previous days! Jazz Night (Friday nights) at the Westminster Presbyterian Church was a wonderful hit of local music, food, and fellowship from a congregation that really knows what it’s doing. I brought a group of 4 for a little music on a Friday night. We enjoyed... More

what more can you say? When I lived in DC, I was a regular attendee. The church has an outreach community initiative which provides jazz (Friday's) and blues (Monday's) for all comers. It's a friendly atmosphere and they are able to draw the BEST local musicians from DC to Baltimore and beyond. It's only $5 admission and the best deal... More
