This used to mark Chinatown in Washington DC but now that most of old Chinatown has disappeared along with the great Chinese restaurants, one wonders why the arch exists still? Perhaps to remind people of a different time in DC.

You know you are in Chinatown when you see this arch. It is also known as the Friendship Archway. This Chinese gate is built over H Street at 7th Street. It was designed and built by Alfred H. Liu in 1986. It is larger than...More

It's mostly what people do is just drive right up to it on the street, photograph it then move on. The homes and such in this little Chinatown are somewhat run down in comparison to many other areas near by. It's probably a good idea...More

An iconic spot to walk through. Love the crosswalk underneath the arch and the area is full of life. A great place to take a stroll and find a unique restaurant.

It's nothing all that special. It's a little dirty and needs some minor fixing up. It's located very close to capital one center and most of the tour buses drive past it. I wouldn't walk out if my way to see it.

Good to see, while in Chinatown. It let know that you have arrive to China Town. Area good restaurants and souvenir stores

If you've seen other archs, you already know what this is. Washington's Chinatown is very small, there are a bunch of restaurants and nothing else. Go here only to eat Chinese.

Yep it's an arch. I'm staying right next to it so I took a pic. Good POI for navigating near by. It's the gateway to China Town. Plenty of restaurants to choose from.

The Chinatown Archway is a tourist spot, but it also notes the DC Chinatown neighborhood. I’ve seen the archway during the day and night time. I prefer the night time, as it looks striking.
