Did not have enough time as the Basilica was closing shortly. Absolutely incredible place. This is a must for Catholics but any person who appreciates art, architecture and spiritually should visit.

The Basilica is monumental and deserves at least a half-day for a visit. In addition to the numerous chapels, from April 6 through May 21 is an exhibit on "The Life of a Swiss Guard" in the lower level exhibit hall. It only takes 10-15 minute, but does give insight into a select military unit. The captions are in English,... More

One of the most beautifully constructed basilicas in the United States, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is an awe-inspiring place of worship to visit...and pray...for hours. Plenty of parking.

This is truly a Beauty Basilica. Appears to be brand new and is kept that way. I would recommend a tour to truly learn about the building.

One of the largest Basilicas in North America. If you go there pay a visit to the great upper church Sacristy. It has different types of paintings than the normal painting you see in Basilicas. Added a couple of photos. It has a pair of large Bronze doors that is a work of art by itself. Couldn't find anybody who... More

Arriving at The Shrine: Plenty of free parking, accessible to both train and bus. To begin - enter through two of the lower level huge wooden doors on either side of the great steps in front. Visiting guests are asked to dress with respect to The Shrine. The lower level of The Shrine has a gift shop, a book store,... More

At the time I writing this review the cathedral is ranked as the 13th most popular attraction in DC. I'd probably been to DC six times before finally putting this on my itinerary and don't feel like I should have seen it sooner. If you've been to the UK or Europe you've seen much grander cathedrals with much more history.... More
