This small museum near the White House presents the history of the building and some of the more famous events that occurred there. As the home of the President and the Office of the President, it has evolved over time to accommodate both functions. We...More

Small Cozy space where you can buy gifts for others. But more importantly unique in showing maps, letters, dinner choices and other items highlighting our Presidents and things that belonged to them or stories of them. Our History. A must see.

We stopped here quick while waiting for our Whitehouse tour. They had some interesting exhibits about the presidents and a gift shop. The Christmas ornament was neat at the gift shop, makes a great souvenir. They have clean public restrooms. The staff was very friendly...More

Get the history of the White House here. Informative, spacious, with a small scale model to give you the big picture. There is also an opportunity to read about the personal views of some of it's former residents which helps to give a personal/insiders feel...More

Very good facility, with so much information about the Whitehouse. Displays, videos, all very good. Ask any of the National Park employees questions you may have, they were very helpful, and explained how to use the virtual tour display of the Whitehouse. Just a block...More

This is a good place to stop before or after seeing the White House, however the exhibits are somewhat limited. Nice restrooms and gift shop for some unique items can be found here. Worth a stop if you're already visiting the White House.

This "Visitors' Center" is just down the Street from The White House itself : in various imaginative displays, it offers great insights into the history & usage of that iconic Residence of American Presidents since the second one, John Adams. If you're fortunate enough to...More

Whether you are touring the White House or not you must visit the White House Visitors Center. In fact, having done both I'd put the Visitor's Center as a priority over the WH tour. The displays are interesting and the short film that plays every...More

We have visited the White House before and this was a pretty good alternative. Good displays regarding the history of the historic house and the families who have resided there.

Hi Frances : No, you don't need your Passport to gain entry to the "White House Visitor Center" - as other contributors have indicated, there is a security check, which includes a "scan" similar to that at an Airport. You... More

Definitely NOT allowed to bring ANY food or drink inside. We had to pour out our water and toss any snacks that we had in our bags.
