America’s story lives here. Built in 1816 by a granddaughter of Martha Washington, this National Historic Landmark was home to six generations of one family from the agricultural to the digital age. Their collections, household goods, landscaped garden and 200 years of stories shed light on American arts, labor, politics, and technology. Enjoy guided tours of the William Thornton-designed mansion and self-guided tours of the 5½-acre garden, including the 1919 Pierce Arrow motor car and the District’s oldest exhibited smoke house. LAST HOUSE TOUR, 3 pm daily. Garden closes 4 pm. CLOSED January + all Mondays.

I've lived in DC area - Northern Virginia my whole life and been around Georgetown. I came across the Tudor Place as a point of interest easy to get to and a nice day event. It was perfect and worth it for locals and tourists...More

This is a mansion that Martha Washington's granddaughter and other descendants lived. There are beautiful grounds surrounding it and there are tours of the home. There are mementos and items from President George Washington and that era going forward.

House owned by 4 generations, well explained by the guide. Many artifacts and objects belonging to George and Martha Washington, as this was their grandaughter's house at one time. House is not air-conditioned today, which is a shame in order to preserve the paintings, books...More

Our excellent guide took us through the house. You get a good feel for how the descendants of Martha Washington lived and entertained. Many family heirlooms, including George Washington's own belongings, are set up in the rooms as they've been for centuries. Very nice garden...More

A place of historical significance offering guided tours of the property or self guided garden tours for very reasonable rates. Recommended to anyone in the area.

Went this morning. Bought $10 ticket upon arrival around noon. Our group comprised 7 people. Knowledgeable, friendly tour guide. Plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Particularly liked the short orientation 'class' before the (1hour?) tour began. Helped to historically frame what we were about to...More
