Everyone should visit the Senate and the House bldgs

It isn't just another tourist place to go, we should all know where our elected representatives work (or don't)

While in DC seeing the sights take the time and drop in on your Congressman or Senators office. Worth a stop and photo

On either side of the Capitol buildings are the House of Representatives (to the right facing the Capitol) and the Senate Office (to the left) buildings which deserve a visit. There is no charge for these buildings either but there is strict security. The Rayburn and Cannon house buildings on Independence avenue are expansive and have their own rotunda's as... More

Take the bus tours. It makes it easy to go to other places in DC. You can find discounted rates that will take you around to different areas.

Was invited over for picture when leaving White House for award. Didn't help still had to go through all security. Quite impressive had a tour here couple years ago. Heard about the inter workings here. Everyone's rushing everywhere.

We attended a confirmation hearing which we loved. Got to visit our Tx Rep. which we enjoyed very much! Maybe not a place to visit often but good for a 1 time trip!

A great civics lesson if Congress is in session. Every American has the opportunity to get passes from their representatives and Senators to watch Congress in action. Be careful though...no talking or reading while you're up in the gallery watching the proceedings. So much history, good and bad, in the Capitol.

They are interesting, sorta, but they are offices. If want to visit a particular office, plan ahead.

I wandered through, surprised to see actual hearings going on and that I was being ushered to take a seat and be in the audience for the announcements the politicians and their staffs were making. It was cool to see a little bit of how things work, and surprising that it was so accessible, and cramped!

We visited the Russell building in order to stop by and say hello to our Senator. The buildings are large but the security guards can help you find where you want to go. Each office has items from their States that are unique and interesting. It's interesting to see the offices and building where the behind the scenes work gets... More
