Fascinating tour of areas I did not know existed!

Carolyn is a ridiculously knowledgeable tour guide. She knows, and has researched, so much of the history of Washington, D.C., and her love of the city clearly shines through. I... read more

My wife, a friend and I took a walking tour of the U Street area this weekend. U Street in Washington DC was the home of a thriving black jazz community in the first half of the 20th century. Performers such as Duke Ellington got their start there, and the area attracted both white and black patrons. Long-time DC residents,... More

Carolyn is a ridiculously knowledgeable tour guide. She knows, and has researched, so much of the history of Washington, D.C., and her love of the city clearly shines through. I love seeing and learning about landmarks and notable places in this great city.

Great you could join the walk of D.C.'s Southwest waterfront neighborhood. Thank you for attending! Having access to Ft. Leslie J. McNair and the famous (infamous?) Grant Hall was rewarding. It's an under-the-radar site that is always fun to show customers. -Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More

Had a great morning tour of Embassy Row. Our guide was well-informed and interactive. We met near DuPont circle then moved up Mass Ave learning about the luxurious mansions and their interesting original owners as well as the embassies that now call them home. The walk itself was relatively short, easy and flat. Cost was $20. Would recommend

Many thanks for attending and recommending the Embassy Row walk. It's one of our most popular and, as you note, an easy-to-walk route. Remarkable, isn't it, how much architectural eye candy and history is contained in those few blocks! -Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More

Our tour guide was excellent. She knew a lot, was able to answer questions in detail and welcomed the input from the people on the tour who had lived here for years. She spoke very clearly. Good job.

On Leroy Place, in addition to a number of embassies, there are gorgeous buildings with wonderful details. DC is full of unique detail that will delight the artist, historian, and tourist.

Could agree more. The charming street you explored (thank you for the artful photographs!) is in D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood, one the city's most beautiful. In fact, the name Kalorama is derived from the Greek term for "beautiful view." No doubt you would agree with that descriptor. A recent addition to the Washington Walks' menu this year is Hamilton's Washington, inspired by the award winning musical. Those who want to walk in Hamilton's footsteps may be a bit disappointed - A Ham (as we learned to call him) never walked the streets of DC. However, those who want to learn about Hamilton the man certainly will not... More

Gratified to know that our enthusiasm for Alexander Hamilton and the HAMILTON musical was contagious. Thank you for attending the walk, Wendy Beth! We're inspired to create walking tours that connect to local and national history thanks to customers exactly like you. My daughter and I went on the Ghost walk. Began interestingly enough at the Octagon house however quickly dissolved into drawn out historical stories with no real "ghost" attachment except " people say you can sometimes see their ghost today....." Definitely more of a general historical tour

Many thanks for giving "The Most Haunted Houses" walk a try. I am sorry the ghostly character of the tour was not more vivid. That's certainly what one would expect on a ghost tour. We'll work on that. Appreciate the feedback! -Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More

My husband and I have been to DC so many times we've lost count. We've seen most of the major monuments and museums in the city multiple times. But, since we saw a good discount available on Goldstar, we decided to take the Monuments by Moonlight tour. Because we're so familiar with DC and its monuments, we were not expecting... More

Many thanks for the feedback and suggestions. The most glorious and meaningful evenings for visiting the National Mall Memorials are often the most challenging for tour guide and participants. Grateful to hear that you were able to reunite with our guide Paul. (We'll chalk it up to the enduring power of the "great unifier," Mr. Lincoln.) Also happy to read... More

Washington Walks is one great outfit. We have taken many walks with them and have never been disappointed. I taught history...but I always learn some interesting things on these walks. Hamilton never lived in Washington...but there are many connections ...and he did have a profound effect on our country.

As our guide Andrew observes at the beginning of the walk, "There would be no Washington, D.C. without Alexander Hamilton"--this despite the fact that he called New York home. Delighted to have a former history teacher was with us for Hamilton's DC. Thank you for attending! --Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks More
