About
Farm Sanctuary's 26-acre Southern California Sanctuary is located on a beautiful hacienda ranch in Acton, just 45 minutes from Hollywood. Farm Sanctuary is home to rescued cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and other farm animals. Their stories of struggle and survival, against all odds, give insight into the realities farm animals face in the modern food system and also introduce us to inspiring individuals through their heartwarming tales. During your visit, you can take an hour-long tour of the shelter with one of their sanctuary guides, meeting the rescued residents along the way! After meeting your new farm animal friends, visit the Sanctuary Shop, which contains educational literature, cookbooks, apparel, and other souvenirs. Advance registration is required. Guided tours are offered year-round on Saturdays, Sundays, and select Fridays. Visits are approximately an hour long and start promptly! Please plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your tour.

Had a beautiful visit on the post Covid closure re-opening day! We’ve been here once before right after Joaquin Phoenix facilitated saving mother and baby cow from the slaughter and they were transferred to live out the rest of their lives in dignity in this peaceful farm staffed with the most caring and amazing volunteers. Must visit place for everyone, who is or is not vegan (I don’t know who wouldn’t adopt vegan lifestyle after visiting here, and learning more about indescribable torture all animals, bred for human consumption, experience for the short span of their life, though). Our guide was M. E., just like when we visited the first time, very informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommend visiting!

Farm Sanctuary is an awesome place!
Although not as big as their former location in northern California (or presumably their place in NY), it's still a treat to be there.
We went for the Celebration of the Turkeys this year and it was a wonderful experience and an honor to meet founder Gene Baur and others.
We loved being able to spend time with the rescued animals and get to know some of them. I loved giving a belly rub to a pig, standing tall with a cow, and hugging a sheep. Each was a special feeling that created special memories!

I am a vegan nutrition coach and personal trainer and a brought a group of my clients to the Farm Sanctuary in Acton. The tour was so far above and beyond what I could have imagined. The staff was very friendly and organized. Everyone kept their masks on for the duration of the tour. The tour guide and volunteers were so helpful and informative. Not only did we learn about the stories of various animals we met but, we also learned about the impact of factory farming on the animals, the environment, and marginalized communities. The amount of information they fit into the tour was quite impressive. Having the opportunity to pet sleeping pigs, roaming cows, and happy chickens was incredible. I HIGHLY recommend this tour and encourage anyone who visits to consider donating to support the sanctuary.

This was a great little farm tour. Ian was a great guide and was knowledgeable about animals. He provided names and background stories on ALL the animals, which was amazing. I'm familiar with most animals, but I don't think I've ever scratched bellies on so many different animals 😃. It is great to see volunteers that back-up their beliefs with actions. Thanks for all you do !!!

This was my second visit to the farm. It's super educational and a great place to introduce children to the animals in a realistic and honest setting. They get to meet the animals, interact with them and learn how they have unique personalities just like people. The tour is geared towards an older child / adult audience, however even small kids can learn from it, and our guide was enthusiastic to answer even basic questions about the animals. I highly recommend this place!

Such a magical experience to connect with these beautiful sentient beings 🐄🥰🐖 We drove a couple hours for the tour and had an amazing time learning about the inspiring work of Farm Sanctuary while getting to love on some of the sweetest gentle giants like Saffy (Safran) the cow among others. Kind, excellent tour guide & volunteer staff, too- thanks again! We’ve been living a vegan lifestyle for over a decade and it truly changes everything to connect with the farm animals in this way. Beyond grateful for the experience and for Farm Sanctuary🫶🏻

What an incredible sanctuary! This entire place was beautiful and very educational. The animals are very well taken care of and very loved. I “adopt” a turkey every year for Thanksgiving and it was so cool to be able to see them up close and personal. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun. I will definitely be back!

Farm Sanctuary is a beautiful sanctuary and the guided tour was magical. The animals are well cared for and the guides are knowledgable, compassionate, and friendly. Throughout the tour, they provided clear information on which animals are comfortable interacting with guests and how to safely interact with the animals (including for the children on the tour). Petting goats, pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, and sheep was a beautiful and moving (and very fun!) experience. The educational aspect of the tour was very informative and did a brilliant job of advocating for the animals by sharing the personal stories and personalities of the rescued animals, sharing the humanizing aspects of each different species through how they live, socialize, and enjoy their lives when given the freedom and safety to do so, and providing the facts around factory farming and how it impacts the animals, the environment, health issues, and the people who work in the industry. They did not sugarcoat any of the information that is hard for people to hear, but nor did they throw it out to shock or shame anyone. It was delivered with extensive knowledge, nuance, and compassion. It was an absolutely wonderful and magical experience, and I highly recommend visiting. The admission price is very affordable, the drive from Los Angeles is under an hour, and it's definitely a great place for kids to become acquainted with animals and make a connection with them.

I loved visiting this farm sanctuary and the sister sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY. It is a must-see for vegans and non-vegans alike. You can meet the animals and know of their plight. It’s a beautiful sight to behold to see them taken care so well, highly recommend.
