We drove from Buena Park and enjoyed the views from the many pullovers. There were a lot of purple flower blooms and a variety of others. The road does wind, but we never picked up enough speed for long enough for me to notice the...More

We birded Kitchen Creek, and along the Sunrise Highway. Great birds, and well maintained road. Well worth the time and effort to drive from Orange County.

It was a very pleasant side trip from San Diego. Our goal was some pleasant hiking. We did Fry Creek, short Inaya, and Oak Grove. They varied in distance and level of difficulty but great scenery was delightful on each trail. The early April weather...More

Everything is lush and beautiful. The road winds significantly, so it you get car sick, be prepared. We would recommend continuing on 74 to the top overlooking the lake. Stunning views.

This forest provides a great "shortcut" from the inland empire to coastal cities. (It probably adds at least 30 winding minutes to most trips.) The driver should remain extremely alert. There's lots of pullover spots to enjoy the views and trails.
