Read all the other reviews as they are right on! So, the only thing I can add is after you pay, start at the bottom of the hill and work your way back up while it might still be cool and your legs haven't given...More
This museum is a ‘must see’ if you are interested in Angels Camp local history. I think the highlight is the artifacts related to gold mining and the associated explanation of the history and operation of gold mines. The building housing carriages is also amazing...More
Wonderful museum in a town with gold Rush history. Fabulous relics of the time. The proctor that explained the mining and gold separation processes was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Really enjoyed talking to him. Ex teacher volunteer. I would really the museum as a must...More
This was by far the most interesting museum we encountered whilst away. Chuck was absolutely amazing with us and our daughter teaching her all about the gold rush era and helping her make a wheel and do gold panning!

I was there in October. The museum is amazing. The books include a lot of history, gold rush, the land, and a few about women in that era. I think some related to Mark Twain. I didn't buy any books, but I looked at a few, and thought they had a good collection for the region. I never knew much about the area before going there. I'd recommend the video "Jump" about the annual festival. Also, go to the nice Italian restaurant nearby... it's super! Enjoy... I loved Angel's Camp!
