We've been here various times before and will be back in the future, as we LOVE hiking around the Arcata Community Forest, breathing the fresh air, communing with the magnificent trees, seeing all the shades of green, listening to the streams, being with being itself.

Even though the trees here are not as huge as the other areas they are still no less amazing! The area is great for a hike or short walk, and the air is so fresh and clean that it is invigorating!

Beautiful forest. Easy to park at the HSU campus Redwood Sciences Laboratory, where the frisbee golf course starts. We met a nice guy there who threw a few holes with us; seems like a popular course with the locals.

We hiked about 5 miles of the trails here. There are several and you could get easily lost if you do not know your way around (we used our all trails map app). But overall good hike, close to town and dog friendly.

Lovely "younger" redwoods in a large urban setting. Stop and take a picture of the map for the trails, there are no paper one's available. Most, but not all, of the trails are marked. We spent many hours and 8 miles enjoying the community forest.

Who doesn't love redwoods with a view of the ocean? This is an eco system like no other complete with 2 inch long banana slugs.

A redwood forest in town, how cool is that. Quite a delight. Easy hiking, right off campus at Humboldt State University. Very pleasant and doable. No fees easy access

Not many towns can boast a community forest! This one is spectacular. A mix of old growth redwood, "younger" trees both redwood and others, ferns and giant stump-remnants of by gone logging days. The trails are both the old roads and in the steeper areas...More

The Arcata forest is just a few steps from HSU. Several students and families seem to enjoy the multiple trails and meadow. It is easy to get lost. we could not find a reliable map to help us. Not sure which trail to follow we...More
