Lots of activities at Sunken Gardens throughout the year. Well kept area but seems to have a small tendency for transients and homeless to sleep, and loiter there at least during daytime hours. Great place to visit during "Winter Wonderland" and summer family movies in the...More

The sunken gardens are directly across from the amazing, historic Atascadero City Hall. On Wednesdays there is an old-fashioned farmers market where one can purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and more.

It is a great place to go watch kids play soccer or hunt Easter eggs. Great to walk around. Be sure to visit the City museum if you get the chance.

We were lucky to visit the first day of the Wednesday Market. Hope it continues! Also treated to a performance by a local ballet school on the steps of City Hall. Way to go, Atascadero!

We walk our dog around Sunken Gardens and it's the perfect short walk! Lots of community events take place here throughout the year.

The city hall seems well built with good architecture. The fountain outside the city hall in the park looks nice with paved paths all around. the water looked all soapy, so didn't let kids touch it. Maybe a nice hangout for locals.

The amount of juvineles with nothing to do and homeless people makes the sunken gardens a creepy park.

The Sunken Gardens is a lovely trip back thru time, well maintained and a nice place to stroll. You can't miss the magnificent historic city hall building in the next block, which offers free docent tours(check website).

The city hall building nearby reminds me of the Pantheon in Rome, but when we were there, it was closed. I have seen some pictures of the inside from websites, and they appear to be quite fabulous. Maybe it worthy a quick stop/break if you...More
