There are numerous stores and restaurants all within walking distance. Old Towne Pizza is a favorite. The jewelry store and art stores offer beautiful items. Be sure to go into the store alley where you will find Bear River Winery to wine taste. There is a parking lot and lots of street parking. Easy access to the freeway I-80.

Easy to walk through (though hilly) and worth it as the town has maintained a lot of the feel from when it was first built. Doesn't take long either.

I don't feel there are a lot of places that are actually worth stopping in but others may differ on that.

I've been here a bunch in the last year and I always try to spend a few minutes in town.

Absolutely love spending time here - wonderful restaurants and cute shops. Sad that Awful Annie's relocated to another spot in Auburn, but still great choices for food and drinks. Love the old charm and quaint streets.

Old Town Auburn is a beautiful little example of a California mountain town. There's plenty to take pictures of, the County courthouse being one of the most impressive.

My only issue with old Town Auburn is that it is the seat of anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers. During the worst part of covid-19, old Town Auburn was hosting outdoor events packed with people not wearing masks. today, although still California state law, no business people in old Town Auburn are complying with the covid-19 safety procedures. This makes it especially difficult for a first responder like myself passing through town, trying to avoid catching or spreading covid-19.

visited my sister and her BF who lives in Auburn...they took us to 'sight=see' in OLD TOWN , quite quaint and with older buildings from turn of the century. was hard to social distance while strolling the sidewalks and parking was hard to find, very few people in Northern Ca wore any face mask! though we did.

the two guys stroll into a local brewery to purchase some beer , and NO ONE AT THE BAR WORE A MASK! seated shoulder to shoulder literally and the waiting area for sitting at the adjoining restaurant , had no one wearing masks or social distancing.

"we don't have any Covid in this area" according to my RN sister. who lived there.

So much to do and see, so little time. So, it's perfect for first timers AND locals cuz there's always something more to explore. Antiques, gifty shops, jewelry both fine and fun, unique clothing, beer, dumplings, tacos, pour over coffees, and an absolutely exquisite fine dining locale. I'm always delighted by my visits.

We were staying in Grass Valley and looking for an "outdoor" activity since the weather was nice (Partly sunny, 70). Old Town Auburn popped up on the list and so we decided to check it out. It's a quaint, hilly location with shops and restaurants sprinkled around the streets that make up this section of town. Parking can be an issue. There is additional parking can be found at the bottom of Sacramento St.

Check out the statue of Claude Chana, the Old Fire House and the Placer County Museum, all free to the public. Lots of options for breakfast if you start your day. A good variety of restaurants for lunch or afternoon snacks. We didn't stay for dinner but did notice that one place, Old Town Grill, was breakfast and lunch only. This part of the city can challenge those have trouble with steep roads and stairs that connect the storefronts to each other. Some restaurants were pet friendly, some were not. There were no signs indicating either way so we had to ask.

My wife and I go to Old Town Auburn on a regular basis, dining there at least 3-4 times per week for either lunch or dinner. My favorite place to dine is Bootleggers. Good food, lots of specials, good wine/beer selection. No hard liquor here. Service is also very good. The Auburn Ale House is also quite nice. It is the spot most often frequented by the locals. Again very good food. Sometimes the service is lacking but that is due more to the size of the crowd rather than lack of effort. They do brew their own beer here and while I am more of a wine person my beer drinking friends tell me that it is pretty good. Full bar available here. The California Club is Auburn's version of a dive bar. It is clean and respectable but can get rowdy on weekend nights. Carpe Vino is a premier wine bar and restaurant. Impeccable food and service, but you certainly do pay for it. Old Town Pizza is a great family place. While not up to the standards of New York pizza they do provide a good, tasty pizza. Sip wine bar is very nice. They serve a number of the upper end locally made wines and it is a very nice atmosphere. Awful Annie's makes a great lunch and breakfast, but again can get very crowded at times. However it is worth it if you are willing to wait to get in. There are plenty of nice stores, jewelry, antiques, etc. to browse in along with a number of historical buildings to view. The biggest problem is lack of sufficient parking. Go to the parking lot across from the court house and expect to walk a little.

That is Auburn in a Nutshell. Friendly people, Family owned Eateries . Best Breakfast & Lunch is Awful Annie's. Shops to browse through. Great prices no pushy salesmen. Free tours at the Court House, Framers Market on Saturdays. Dinner I suggest Auburn Ale House, Bootleggers. Carpe Vino Wine Bar. Auburn has events all through the year.
