This is the home of the highest bridge in California. 730 feet crossing the North Fork American River. I think it is 4th in USA. The view is quite spectacular. You can usually park either side and walk to the middle or fully across on the sidewalks. The full depth is not reached until the middle. Here you can clearly see the river. The bridge is still quite a distance to the town of Foresthill.

Foresthill is home to many "must sees". The Foresthill Bridge is the tallest bridge in CA, and boasts beautiful views of the valley. There are numerous trails that uncover abandoned mines, gorgeous views, and small bridges and hidden gems. The Western States Endurance run comes through Foresthill and it's always fun to cheer on the runners. Foresthill is one of my favorite places to enjoy!

The Foresthill Bridge is nestled in a great landscape. While it's fun to walk or drive across the bridge, I also recommend doing a hike down by the lower, Mountain Quarry/no-hands bridge in order to get great photos of Foresthill Bridge - which is the 4th highest in the US. There are many hiking trails and it's a beautiful area. Be careful with valuables left in your car, there are break-ins.

We came to see the Foresthill bridge that is seen in the movie XXX with Vin Disel. When we started researching it more we found out this is actually the 4th tallest bridge in the United States. It was really cool to get out and walk it.

Be warned: if you decide to park on the side and get out to walk down to the bridge the roadway does dip down and some cars may get damaged on their under carriage.

Gone are the days when Forest Hill was known for bikers and drugs up a difficult road.

Road was straightened out and improved many years ago for easier access. Although remnants of the checkered past remain. the bikers for the most part have been replaced by weekend warriors. Now Forest Hill is known more for hiking, biking, fishing and class 3-5 river rafting on the North Fork of The American River.

Also has the Forest Hill Bridge out of Auburn on the way in which is the highest suspension bridge in the state and I think the 3rd highest in the US.

It is on our "to do" list whenever we have company new to the area. You've got to walk across this bridge at least once in your life. Put it on your "bucket list."

While traveling elsewhere I was told about this bridge for the hiking trails. I'm in construction so getting to see the tallest bridge in Ca, at 730' high) was interesting to me anyway. The drive here from Folsom was short and pretty. There are multiple access points for the trails which made for a great day. You can park at the bottom of the bridge where the rivers converge or at various other points along that road. If you have time and want to enjoy a good hike and a pretty great feat in construction, this is worth the trip.

In our town the local bridge is 486 feet high so kids wanted to walk this one. I used to live in the area and have included it in my runs many times. The view can be a bit daunting if you look straight down.
We went on a Sunday and there were 4 other people on the bridge. Parking on the road east of the bridge is the best spot, in my opinion, but be very careful of traffic coming down the hill.

Recently - I visited Forest-Hill bridge. It is the highest bridge in California. There are awesome views from there.
It's another world of forest land. Since its opening in 1973 - according to research 76 people took their own lives by jumping to their deaths... That's why you can see many notes from one end to the other telling the potentially suicide inclined... that suicide is not the answer to their "problems." There are words of encouragement & hope...
and I'm sure those messages have helped at least some... Forest-Hill residents - keep the messages of hope coming... Thank you & God bless you. HMo'D.
