Lovely mountain drive, can be amazing in the fall. Aschroft ski touring and the Pine Creek Cookhouse are up this way. Access to great mountain biking, hiking, skiing (XC and backcountry). Some areas have serious avalanche danger.

Castle Creek Road begins at the Roundabout and travels about 12 miles until the paved road end at the Pine Creek Cookhouse. Some of the best wild scenery can be found along this road on the way to the ghost town of Ashcroft. For cyclists, this road is not as steep as the neighboring Maroon Creek Road. Vehicular traffic is... More

Missed the peak of fall colors. But still a pretty drive. Somewhat windy road. Leads up to Ashcroft.

Really Pretty in Fall - Good Aspen Viewing... Ashcroft is an interesting historic town in a meadow. Castle Creek is right there. American Basin Trailhead is there... so is Cathedral Lake Trailhead...

Nice 11 mile drive right out of Aspen. It has a small information/gift store with an intern in it who was very informative and nice. Short walk to see the old cabins, historical society has done a great job preserving them. When we were there, a local third grade was having a field trip and I could tell they were... More

Cannot add much to the positive reviews for this drive. Absolutely stunning scenery and fall color. I would like to add a comment about Little Annie Road which is an off shoot from Castle Creek Road. The drive up Little Annie Road was recommended to us by family who drove it in August up to Sundeck Restaurant. Would not recommend... More

This is a must if in Aspen. The road is a short 13 mile drive with tons of pull outs to stop for fabulous photos. We were there during the Aspen fall colors which provided spectacular scenery. The river runs along the road so we pulled over several times and I've gotten some postcard and framing worthy photos. Along the... More

We went up the Castle Creek Road twice, simply because it was so beautiful the first time up. Mountains, a clear fast flowing creek lined with red rocks and aspens everywhere the eye can see.

Gorgeous fall colors. Drive all the way to the end of the road. Stop often to take photos. Good road.
