Hike can be done by small children to older people...make sure to wear good shoes and watch your footing. You can roll an ankle very easy. When you make it up top be sure to find the alpine swing it's so fun to swing from that view up top.

This is a trail you can take from the where the bus drop you off at Maroon bells. It takes about an hr to get there and its really pretty. I'm not a bid hiker so that's why it takes me that long. I like bringing lunch and having it there and then hike back.

HIke: I consider myself to be athletic and this hike was tough. Very rocky! Be prepared to have the proper footwear. Those hiking in flip flops - Beware!! Very slippery and rocky which is a combination for a really bad sprained ankle or fall. I would not recommend this hike for those who may need a little more assistance moving... More

We love to hike, but this one was not our favorite, It's a long hike up, a moderate trail, very rocky and uneven hiking, and you arrive after all your effort to find a dry lake bed. Very disappointed we spent several hours for that. Perhaps others will find it with water in it next year.

Thought that this hike would be easy from Maroon Lake and didn't realize a lot of hike was over loose rock. Great view when you get there but must wear good hiking shoes. People in running shoes were complaining and those in street shoes either turned back or were just plain foolish.

This hike is beautiful, especially in fall. The views are breathtaking. Crater lake is worth visiting and the best part was that it was graupeling when we hiked up there. Such a calm, serene place with wooden logs to sit and enjoy the nature!

This is a gorgeous hike. The views are amazing. The trail is rocky, so wear good shoes. Crater lake is a great place to take a picnic lunch.

This is a great way to get away from the maroon bells crowds, but if you are looking for a pristine wilderness experience, choose a different hike.

For some reason our walk has to be rewarded but a view... well so we were a bit disappointed. I guess if you just want a walk: this is fine. It took us about an hour to go to the crater and 30mn to come down

This trail which is 1.4 miles from the end of Willow Lake is a great way to get up into the wilderness a bit and explore. I actually ran most of it though it's rocky and rough in places. Still, the trail is quite nice. I will say, though, that the Crater Lake itself was a bit underwhelming at the... More
