The hotel desk recommended this hike, and it was quite nice on a fall day. Take the Hunter Creek Trail up, then come over and down the Smuggler Mountain Trail to find the Observation Point and enjoy great views of Aspen. Smuggler Mountain Trail is...More

I did the trail with fresh May snow and it was really good, especially coz its near the village. I damped into a ‘friendly’ bear too! Nature is amazing as with all places around Aspen. Its my third time here since 2014.

I really enjoy this hike. Beautiful scenery and enough elevation to make it a workout. I recommend going up Hunter Creek Trail and back down Smuggler's.

The trail is really beautiful and perfect for hiking with the whole family. It is easy to navigate and there is a perfect view of the city of Aspen. There is also a nice river, and the trees provide shade in the hot sun with...More

This is a great Trail even in winter. It is protected by the trees in a lot of areas and still has great hiking access.

Surprisingly nice in town hike option. Moderate with some elevation and rocks. Can connect to Smuggler for an easy return.

Trail has a nice incline component adjacent to creek but is loaded with large rocks making navigation a bit awkward. Not a favorite for me.

We were looking to do a hike with our aging dog and this was great. We accessed it from town without driving, it had a little elevation gain, and we easily looped around back to town.

Yes, you can. But there is also a wonderful bus transportation system RFTA. You can take a free shuttle bus to the trail from Rubey Park Transit Center in town.
