Maroon Lake scenic trail is a must do while in Aspen. The trail in the vicinity of the lake is flat and entirely doable for seniors or younger children. The scenery is spectacular, especially in September when the Aspen trees are beginning to change color.

Perfect easy extension, if you want to do more than just walk back to Maroon Lake and then leave. Very flat 1-mile walk, very easy, very accessible. Gives you a few new photo ops of the bells. For more of a challenge, hike back to...More

Get up early and watch the sunrise! You won't be disappointed! This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been! Pictures do not do it justice, you have to see it and experience it in person. To see the lake, you just have...More

A pleasant short stroll at the end of the lake but a nice leg stretch with good views. Catch the shuttle if arriving before 5pm. After that you can drive up to Maroon Bells.

This is one of the Aspen areas best-kept secrets. The 1.5-mile trail is accessible via a short walk from the main parking lot. There are several benches along the trail, which make for an absolutely beautiful view of the sunrise and, if you're lucky, the...More

Much prettier than Crater Lake, which is a few more miles up the trail. The hike to Crater Lake is much more rigorous, and, as mentioned, the lake itself is not nearly as pretty as Maroon Lake, which is very close to where the buses...More

Beautiful hike, easy 1.5 miles around edge of lake, across Maroon Creek. Fun to watch fly fishermen catch trout.

Yes, the Disabled placard is one of the exceptions for users who can drive into the Maroon Bells area. There is a $10 recreation use fee. See stayaspensnowmass for more details

I dont know about the parking but i can tell you about the trail. It is narrow at some points (need to move in a single file, one after another) and wider at other points. It is definitely rocky but not very steep. I mean... More
