A great winter sports opportunity not to be missed

I give the views, especially as you get further on in on the trail five stars. Outstanding! The course itself I would give three to four stars as there is not a lot of mileage at... read more

Many very old buildings remain upright at Ashcroft, which are interesting to see in both Summer and Winter. Summer one walks about, Winter the use of Cross Country XC skies makes visiting very enjoyable. There is the Pine Creek restaurant, near, serving excellent local sourced food, with a fine non-confrontational wait staff.

So my whole family was in town and we decided to book a reservation for Lunch at Pinecreek Cookhouse (Which, on its own is a magical, delicious, beautiful restaurant I encourage ALL to head to). It was Ashcroft's 1st day open of the season. This is an annual event, we have headed to Ashcroft for decades for Holiday fun. Since... More

I've cross-country skiied at Ashcroft several times -- it is really something I look forward to on my winter visits to Snowmass. It combines a wildness and sense of being alone in nature with some welcome bits of civilization and comfort. The ski center -- which is fairly recently expanded and now has comfortable benches to sit while you put... More

We arrived on a lovely winter's day and payed $25 for a day pass for cross country skiing. Trails were only groomed the first 30min to Pine Creek Cookhouse and then we had to make our own tracks through the deep snow. Although it was great fun for us I made a point to the sales/reception lady at the ticket... More

This place is nothing short of magical. I was in Aspen for 2 weeks of skiing and discovered this jewel during my second week. I went back twice. BEAUTY: This place is located at the end of a 12 miles road up a valley, As you see in one of the pictures it is beautiful. All the space behind the... More

As newbies to all things skiing and snow adventures we took a safe option of booking the Snowshoe tour at Akax Mountain. Kinsey was our guide and we ended up. Having a private tour as no one else took the challenge of walking in snow shoes across the local snow slopes at th stop of the mountain. Kinsey was a... More

I give the views, especially as you get further on in on the trail five stars. Outstanding! The course itself I would give three to four stars as there is not a lot of mileage at each level, but there are options for taking the public access trails. The trails are usually groomed, but not consistently and not all of... More

What a gorgeous place to ski on a sunny winter day! We fell a lot because we're not very good x-country skiers, but we enjoyed the variety of trails and the amazing views. The rental place traded us snowshoes for skis and we used to tramp through the ghost town.
