This was a fascinating tour, guided by Jeremy, who made the house and history come alive. His personality and impressive knowledge of the family history and the lore connected with that era took us back in time to a beauty and elegance seldom experienced today. Although the house may be toured without a guide, the guided tour offers so much... More

The grounds at this State Park are immaculate and well kept. When we entered the house, we were greeted by the ranger who told us that a new tour would be starting in a few minutes. At just $2 per person, the tour was very informative about the history of the Orman family as well as the history of Apalachicola.... More

I love traipsing around historic mansions. This mansion was a guest home for Mr. Thomas Orman until the plantation north of the river burned down. Mr. Orman and his family then moved into Orman house. Mr. Orman was such an entrepreneur that this home was built in "components" in Syracuse, New York. So this home was a Prefabricated home. The... My hubby and I stopped by the Orman House Historic State Park while in Apalachicola for a couple of days. The house is a step back in time. The park also includes gardens with a concrete walking path. They had yummy looking veggies in their garden and was shocked to see cauliflower growing in April!

Ranger Mike is as interesting on the tour as is the actual house. The house is filled with artifacts of the actual family and Ranger Mike has studied and met the family is able to bring much personal insight. He gives tours on the hour and the experience is so worth it for a mere $2.00. If you love old... More

This ranger-guided tour was very informative. It helped to explain the early history of Apalachicola through one of its prominent families. Ranger Jeremy was a great part of the tour, adding lots of energy and enthusiasm. The house also features large gardens that were laid out by Alvan Chapman, another prominent citizen. The Three Servicemen statue is also here, so... More

We highly recommend this tour of an historic Apalachicola landmark. We were actually met by some of the former (deceased) residents when we arrived at the Orman House for our tour which was quite exciting. We spent about an our with a very knowledgeable State Park representative that gave a wonderful rendition of the Orman family and how they impacted... More

We enjoyed our tour of the Orman house. Our guide did a fabulous job on our tour. The tour was only 2.00 per person. Some great history there and lots of interesting antiques though out the home! Would recommend if you are into history.
