Do everything you can in Caye Caulker. While I love the mainland of Belize as well, Caye Caulker is far superior to Ambergris Caye and San Pedro.

Beer and rum are your cheapest options... Belikin Beer is king, followed by Land Shark (which I didn’t care for) and Lighthouse... go to Amigos grocery and buy it by the case. About $1.25 a bottle US Dollars... with thee... More

Bugs are more prevalent on the Westside of the island. But I didn't find they were bad at all. I think they ramp up during the summer months.
