We drove ourselves from Belize City to Altun Ha. Enjoyable trip, quite short I would say. The site is large and has several temples that can be climbed to have an overview of the entire place and take landscape photos. At the entrance there are...More

My daughter and I toured this site with a guide and found it to be completely amazing. There are bathrooms there, but no other facilities. Well worth the drive to see these ruins. Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in history.

We visited Altun Ha as part of a shore excursion on a cruise. It was a very interested tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the ruins. It was nice to visit since they were close to Belize City.

Altun Ha is a relatively small Mayan site close to Belize City. As with all Mayan sites in Belize, the location is well presented and the site's museum provides a lot of information. For our visit, we drove directly to the site which is simple...More

We haven't had a chance to get to Lamanai. We vegged for most of 2 weeks on our last trip. The ruins at Altun Ha are nice but from what I hear, if you have the chance go to Lamanai. We will hit it next time.

It's very safe. Tour companies are best. There really are no crowds since the area is so large.
