If you are a traveler that prefers to walk everywhere, be careful of the pushy panhandlers and tour bus companies that may try to harass you on the streets near the museum. They are harmless, but also very persuasive! Once you get inside the museum, you're golden. The exhibits on the history of Belize are fascinating and enlightening, and poignant.... More

I loved wandering around this very informative museum. There were sections on insects, jade from Mayan times, stamps and also slavery in Belize. This was accompanied by a thought provoking reminder that slavery still exists today. There were also example of language and music, information on the jail that was there, and also the logging industry. This was my favourite... More

If you in Belize City & let's face it there isn't much to see. This museum is a great, especially the downstairs area on the history of Belize. It's only a small museum, half an hour should be fine but it gives an interesting insight to Belize. Plus it's air-conditioned too.

A two story small museum, very interesting historical information if you can take a bit of time to relax and read the information. They allow photos. The museum covers a wide range of topics. The displays are really well done. I especially liked the drawings of the slave ships layout and how it totally compares to todays airline seating charts.... More

The Museum of Belize is not like one of those very large and elaborate museums in larger countries but a bit small. It is where this museum is housed in (a part of the only prison that served the colony known as British Honduras or present day Belize). Also some of the display are so typical of Belize it is... We spent about an hour here learning more about the history of the country we were about to tour. It is quite inexpensive .

The museum is just OK and worth going since there is absolutely nothing else to do or see in Belize City.

We went here with our 9 year old boy and he enjoyed it very much - not normal for our son to enjoy ANY museum. The part on slavery and human trafficking was really interesting. There is another part on Mayan culture that is nicely made and summarized many of our experiences from visiting several of the ruins. There is... More

The museum is small but things are well displayed and explained. It provides a quick history of Belize, the bad and the good. There were two major installations on loan from other museums when we were there, and I imagine the exhibits change frequently. I can also recommend the washrooms. Those who have wandered around the area for any length... More
