We got a tour of this conservation project, mostly because it was at the same hotel where we were staying. We did the first tour of the day, which is at 9AM, and boy am I glad we did! It was just the two of us and the tour guide, and we got a lot of personal attention and ended... More

If you stay at San Ignacio it is a good way to spend some time (less than one hour) learning about iguanas and the conservation project. I guess it is a must do for kids in particular but I found it interesting for adults too.

We had a great time at the project, learning about the iguanas and the program's educational efforts. This is very memorable thing to do in San Ignacio, it only takes a half hour. While not cheap for the duration, it's worth it to help the program thrive. Our guide showed how much he cared about the iguanas and made sure... More

As long as iguanas/lizards do not scare you, this is a great activity well worth the nominal fee to support this good cause. The lizards are very friendly and will happily crawl on your shoulders/back. They will also approach you very enthusiastically when you offer leaves/branches for them to eat.

Totally fun and worthwhile -- supporting iguana conservation project, and a chance to get up close and personal (like putting them on your head, if you want).

We were staying at this hotel so didn't want to miss this. We went for the last tour of the day and ended up being the only ones on the tour so we felt like we got the VIP experience. We got to feed the older iguanas and the guide was great-a couple iguanas even jumped on my back as... More

Our guide Abdon was amazing with the iguanas. We got to hold them and he took some amazing photos for us. A definite must do in San Ignacio.

Nigel was my guide on this little excursion. It was one of the best things I've done! Totally crapped myself with iguanas crawling all over me but just so much fun and interesting too!! Totally kid friendly. A must in San Ignacio!!

So much fun, we did the tour twice because we liked it so much and it's only $9US. You learn about iguanas and can hold as many as you like, they even pile them on top of you including your head. You get to see really big ones (like 3+ feet long) and smaller ones (1' or less long). Nigel... More

IF in San Ignacio, you need to take about 2 hours and visit this project which is located on the San Ignacio Hotel & Resort grounds. The tour takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, and will get you up close and personal with lots of Iguanas. Our guide was great and very knowledgeable about the project and Iguanas. There are... More
