Beautiful, park-like setting

Expansive lawns with interesting tress. The orchid house is especially lovely. A peaceful setting. Garden is well groomed

Though a bumpy ride to get here, it's quite a pretty one past cattle pastures. The Mayan guide knew a lot about the plants and trees, especially their traditional medicinal uses. He had personal knowledge from his mother and grandmother about the traditional Mayan life and personal stories of the uses of the plants. To get there we used a... More

We enjoyed this wonderful garden. It is beautifully arranged and very natural. We did not have a guide. The book they provide is excellent

It was a treat to spend time in this paradise with Oscar as our guide. Not everything was in bloom or full fruit production but he was great explaining how the botanical garden came to be (thank you duPlooey family!), the garden is completely organic, and there are so many medicinal plants that were used--and still are--by the Mayans.

The botanical garden on the property of the du Plooy's Jungle Lodge is well worth the time and money spent...especially if you hire a guide to give you all you want to know about the trees...and then some. There are also lots of birds to see. The earlier in the day of my visit to the garden I had fallen... More

For a reasonable fee, the garden will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the garden. Its a bumpy ride down a long, unpaved road, but well worth it to see this beautiful garden. We also saw monkeys and macaws! Our tour included lunch at the on-site restaurant. It was a wonderful afternoon!

We had a guided tour that lasted about an hour. The property has a vast and varied collection of tropical plants, trees, and birds. An easy walk and our guide discussed the plants and trees and their medicinal value. There is Mayan home that displays the living quarters and building materials. Around the home are the medicinal plants. We had... More

If you like plants this is the place to visit. It will take about an hour and after you can go to the hotel bar and enjoy a very pricey beer with a fantastic view.

My wife and I went through the gardens both to see the plants and the birds. We had a fantastic time. The Birds were amaizing. The walk through the garden is so nice you just spend all you time looking at all the plants and great trails.

Gorgeous grounds, great plant selection, and surprisingly informative self-guided tour. I was really impressed with this place. It's a nice 50-min walk from Chaa Creek, if you're staying there.
