What a beautiful piece of Earth! We took about 30 minute long boat ride from Placencia to the Laughing Bird Caye. The beach is incredible (if you happen to be in Belize at times when the beaches are not very attractive, then don't hesitate, hire someone with a boat and in a very short time you will be at an... My husband and I visited Placencia, Belize in late April and snorkeled several cayes. We loved them all, of course, and thought this one had some of the prettiest coral. We visited the Caye with Splash Dive Center. We snorkeled twice and had lunch in-between. Splash Dive Center was kind enough to supply a vegan meal for me. Two cautions:... More

This was our second trip out. My daughter's 3rd. Laughing Bird is a favorite of tourist and locals. Caye is clean and has good snorkeling. Our group saw a barracuda and sting rays along with the smaller fish. The hammocks and picnic tables are nice and the Caye is kept well.

I only ate lunch there in between diving. I heard that the snorkeling was excellent. The Wardens were friendly and informative. It is very tiny and had hammocks that I could have definitely fallen asleep in while watching the birds.

We are glad we visited but the snorkeling was disappointing, which we were very surprised at since it is a protected area.

Laid back tiny island with great coral heads, lots of elk horn, brain and fire coral with thriving reef life.

We stopped in here for lunch in between two scuba dives and loved it. Very pretty and tiny little island with palm trees, pelicans, and picnic tables. Good diving nearby.

We opted to go on a full day scuba diving trip here mainly because we wanted to dive and the idea of visiting a tiny Caribbean island in the middle of no where was hitting two birds with one stone ;). First, it is a long boat ride, no big deal - very safe and wonderful being on the water.... More

This Caye (small island) is nearly an hour by boat from the Placencia Municipal pier. Boat rentals are easy to arrange, and Belize maintains safety standards for such tour boats. We knew that we were going out on a day that would be choppy on the water, but our schedule didn't let us wait for a day with smoother water.... More
