This museum is interesting, but not as much as Popol Vuh. It is all about textiles in the Mayan times and nowadays. I was a little bit disappointed as I was expecting a lot of beautiful and colorful textiles. There was some and it was nice, but I was expecting more. The entrance fee is Q35, but you can get... This museum is colourful and beautiful with a big exhibition of textiles that's used by the Mayan's. It also has a good collection of Carmen L. Pettersen's beautiful paintings of the traditional dresses that was, and still is, worn by the Guatemalan's.

Guatemala still has one of the most impressive indigenous textile cultures in the world. If you are at all into textiles or Mayan culture, Museo Ixchel has a lot to offer. The color for which Guatemala is so famous - textiles are the primary the source. Come and be dazzled.

A fabulous museum of the many and varied textiles and costumes of Guatemala. Because Guatemalan textiles are the finest and most varied in Central and South America, all tourists should go through the museum before they start any trips. Very well displayed and conserved.

Very enjoyable and informative visit. The textiles are drop dead gorgeous and the labelling clear, with good explanations of where the pieces come from, how they were made, and photos of how sone were used or worn. Excellent modern display, includes information on their storage and conservation to preserve the textiles. Check out the photos and short films. Also the... More

What struck me most within this museum was the variety of artifacts, and the look of them. They all looked brand new and most were in excellent, whole, shape.

This museum is a great place to get an idea of the beautiful and interesting costumes and colors of Guatemala before heading out and seeing the country. It is not a big museum and it is easy to get around.

The Ixchel Museum has a long dedicated history of textile conservation and they have the best public collection in Guatemala. You can appreciate the beauty and history of the culture and the skill in the construction and design of these traditional weavings and crafts. The museum also publishes many books and pamphlets about the different regional garments . There is... More
