I could not spend a whole day at a museum so went here because I heard it was small. The building itself is not small. It was a ballroom for the Presidential Palace and is beautiful. The art is well explained and a collection that the senses can handle while being at the same time wide ranging in modern art.... More

The building was not designed to be a museum. But this is just the begining. Although this museum has some important arctifacts, the mise-en-scene is old-fashioned, boring and chaotic. The museographic proposal is not clear. You cannot find a thread to follow the visit. Guatemala deserves a much better Art Museum.

This museum is on the small side and has some downsides but it houses works from about every important Guatemalan artist over the past 100 years though there are some works that are even older. The star of the museum is the gallery dedicated to Guatemala's most renowned artist, Carlos Mérida. There are some very interesting works including a good... More

Although not particularly large the art housed here is varied and well displayed. It's an enjoyable stroll around the gallery that can be combined with the Natural History and archeology museums across the complex.

The Museum has a wonderful collection of Guatemala*s modern art and the best Guatemalan painters, but during Febuary and March they have a Pop exhibition with international artists, among them is Andy Warlow with Marlyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth and others. There are 11 Pop artists and the collection belongs to Fundación Ortiz-Gurdian. A must to see if you are in... More

If you have some spare time in GC this can be a more cultural option. Besides you can visit the Anthropology Museum at the same visit. The good thing about this museus is that although the collection is pretty small, you can see some works from other Central American artist from Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama. The... More

I loved this museum. If you like Modern art, you will definitely enjoy visiting here. Wonderful and unusual pieces - was pleasantly surprised. In every country / city I visit, I always try to go to the modern art museums. This one was great.

I visited this museum after visiting the National Museum of Archeology and Ethnology located across from it. There is one floor of exhibits that include paintings, pictures, and sculptures. My two favorite ones are the one with babies crawling to the mouth of an alligator and the marimba that looks like a military tank. Thanks to the museum staff who... More

This museum is located next to the Archaeological museum so you can see both easily. I came here to see Guatemalan arts and i was not disappointed. 50Q entrance.
