Until recently, this was probably a stunning lake. Surrounded by volcanoes and charming villages, it looks idyllic, and unlike any other lake I've ever visited. Unfortunately, the lake is seriously polluted. So even if the surface looks calm, boating across it is a jarring experience,...More

We hugely enjoyed the boat trip on this lake as there were great views from the boat, and we stopped off at two lovely villages.

We are back for our second winter stay on beautiful Lake Atitlan. This place is invigorating, mystical, magical, and sensually uplifting. The intact Mayan culture is fascinating and the local exuberant plant life is spectacular. This special destination is a ne plus ultra for travels.

Lake Atitlan is a beautiful spot that's difficult to get to with a long ride over from Guatemala City. It's surrounded by dormant volcanoes. Interesting but very poor villages dot it shoreline.

So much beauty at Lake Atitlán. From winding down from above, you’ll see a magnificent lake and surrounding volcanoes. Many nice villages to visit and the boats are easily accessible and cheap. If in Guatemala this is a must visit place!

There is no denying the majestic view of this hotel, but everything else was a disappointment. Our party of a couple dozen professionals arrived with some sandwiches we purchased on the bus trip. We tried to eat our food near the pool and were immediately...More
