La Galeria celebrates the arts as a whole and provides at the same time a center for local and international artists. We sell a vast range of art work at attractive prices, rare and fine art pieces for collectors as well as unique frames of our own design. The building, a piece of art in itself is located in the heart of Panajachel. Since 1973 we also organize community events, concerts, theatre, cabaret, art movies etc. Our additional show of unique folk art began in the 1920s and continues to this day. Come by for an excellent cup of cappuccino or espresso and get inspired.House recommendations: Cappuccino -

I am not super familiar with the artwork, but I am with their sour dough pancake brunch on Sundays. This is a little known food gem in Pana, in my opinion. They also now have a farmers market on Sundays every two weeks, which is when I stock up on organic greens.

The owners are charming. The husband is Guatemalan and his wife is German. She is a great cook. He has the art knowledge; is an artist himself and his mother as well. It is small yet interesting enough to spend a day!

A great place to visit. The gallery is only a small percent of the larger collection onsite. Owners have an incredible story and are always willing to chat!

A very interesting gallery focusing on Mayan people, local sites, and more. We bought a print of the church in Chiciicastenango there many years ago, and enjoy going back to see what's new.

I always make it a point to stop here and visit the gallery when I'm in Pana. The owner is friendly and welcoming. Its more of his home than an art gallery. It's a good place to just look around and hang out for a bit.

Just looked at the art in one large room. While it's for sale, if you're not looking to buy you're also welcome to walk around and take a look. The space itself is intimate and airy, and the music is enjoyable. The sign outside (in English) said that there's yoga, meditation, Sunday brunch & some other events happening throughout the... An oddly constructed set of buildings, sheds, arcades and courtyards that together represent decades of collection by Thomas Shaeffer and his Guatemalan mother and German father, La Galeria is a welcome refuge from the bustle and mindless commercialism of the mostly tourist streets that dominate downtown Panajachel. The host is happy to spend time with the handful of visitors who... More

After visiting the Hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo Museum, I walked towards this museum, about 10-minute walk. I felt disappointed when I saw the gate closed. The sign at the gate says that it is closed on Tuesday! I will come back and visit it next time I' m back in Pana!

This is a great place to look at something a little or a lot different from what is commonly found in the markets. The owner is very friendly and will tell you the history behind any piece you are interested in.
