Great visit

A interesting site. Spend around 3,5 hours without the museum and tunnels. I recommend a guide for only 5$ - definitely worth it if you want to get the most out of your visit.

I was very impressed with our guide who knew so much historical fact. The ruins were wonderful- so much history. It was easy to imagine how the Mayans lived. We saw several animals indigenous to the area including some beautiful Macaws. I would highly recommend. I would also recommend paying extra for the Museum. It was worthwhile paying $7 US... More

We were there for a Discovering Honduras trip and I loved it! The town is beautiful with its square and statues. There are so many great restaurants, street food locations, excursions and activities that our days were full! I felt safe and welcomed which is very nice considering all the bad press that Honduras gets. Fully recommend a visit to... More

If you Visit Copan the Ruins are not to be missed! I would recommend a guide who can be hired in the parking lot to get the most from this experience.

Over thirty years I've visited a lot of Mayan ruins sites, but this is one of the most impressive. The first entry into the main plaza may not seem spectacular, but climbing the steps up to the Jaguar court and Rosalila temple is. The distinctive carving makes this site, while smaller than Tikal or Chechen Itza, artistically fascinating. You can... More

I stayed two nights in the town while working as a volunteer adviser and had the chance to visit this historical site. A very interesting example of Mayan culture. With restoration and discovery ongoing. I was very taken by the colony of Macaw birds which are present at the site. I thought the entrance fe was a little expensive and... More

I have travelled to about 8 of the top Mayan ruins through Central American and found the Copan ruins to be just as impressive as the rest, but more so due to the quality of the statues.

We have all learned about the Aztecs and Incas, right? This is a breathtaking walk through the annuls of time. Walk as the Aztec kings did, see where a form of basketball was played and also see where young men and women's heads were cut off. The fascination of how they worked out astronomy, astrology, calendars, worked out systems for... More

The best thing about these ruins was that there was hardly anyone else there! There were no vendors or touristy junk being sold inside the ruins and it felt like we were alone for the entire time. I would recommend bringing some food and plan on spending extra time relaxing in the shade and soaking up the view. Loved it.

The ruins are some of the most well conserved that I have seen. It's a must if you like ruins. Buy the complete ticket it's worth it.
