I beleive is not a touristica place and is not worth it to go unless you go with time and you're a catolic person.

Downtown Tegucigalpa offers Spanish colonial architecture with noble history, real solid urban planning challenges in a city straddling mountains on all sides, and people who are I found to be kind, well mannered, industrious..
Walking Tour: one can tour the downtown in pleasant two-three hours, almost in a straight line, walking from Iglesias Los Dolores, across the Plaza, maybe the 'peoples market', on to the statue of San Miguel slaying the Devil in the main plaza and the Cathedral, on to the Museo para la Identidad Nacional (MIN),,continue to the Military Museum side by side with iglesia San Francisco, and walk another two blocks to finish up sipping coffee at the delightful Café Paradiso..
You will note the iron gate entrance to Café Paradiso - you must be let in/ out, The coffee is great, atmosphere artsy and fun. The guarded entrance to a simple café raises the frequent question of safety. Why do the locals have iron, locked entrances? I share advice given to me from frequent visitors to this city.
Walking around the main plaza of downtown, you will observe children playing, students on the move, shoppers and stores, business men and policemen.. Everything normal .Experienced travellers have advised going with a reliable Driver (arranged by your hotel) or at least in the company of two or more, no obvious camera or backpack, no jewelry, and cash enough for the day. Keep active, don't gawk or linger. Start out at 10AM and leave the centre town by mid-afternoon. Afterwards, we grabbed a cab to visit the Multiplaza and that was interesting too.
Some Additional Tips
Travel within the City: Tegucigalpa is built upon mountains on all sides. To climb up, streets must zig-sag up the mountain. Avenues criss-cross the zig-zag streets,- well, you get the picture of complexity... A short distance, judged by a map, becomes for anyone walking, a myriad of dips & climbs, curves & bends, short & long blocks, no recognizable pattern. Experienced taxis do not know every hotel . You need to have in writing, the complete hotel name & address, major intersecting streets and any other nearby major or well-known structure.
Guide Services: outside the major Hotel Real Intercontinental beside the Multiplaza was an experienced guide (might be connected or not with the hotel- I do not know). A reliable taxi service is nearby and you will be assigned a driver able to drive you to your destination at a reasonable, agreed price.
Other travellers point out that Tegucigalpa has no tourist infrastructure - you must put something together yourself, and ideally hire a guide service, Efficient travel within the city requires a taxi.
Parque el Picacho: mountain peak way above the city, great views of Tegucigalpa, well maintained park and marvellous statue, el Cristo del Picacho.. Strongly advise that you arrange for the taxi to await you at the entrance. There are few tourists, few visitors on most days, park personnel around of course but you cannot easily find a drive back down into the city. So be wise.
All in all, visiting Tegucigalpa was interesting, informative and made comfortable by arranging guide services, and pre-planning the day..

This is a beautiful plaza in the middle of old town. There is a striking statue of St Michael Archangel in the square, the oldest church in Honduras at the end of the square and a marketplace nearby.

A really nice place where you can buy thousands of little and cheap souvenirs. And the church - it's really nice.

We were told by locals to check out "atras del mercado". What they mean was, behind the church but inside the market, the food rocks, and it does. Walk through the honeycomb of kiosks and you arrive at great food. Very great food

Located in downtown historical Tegucigalpa, in front of Los Dolores Church. Its a touristic spot to go to on your visit to Tegucigalpa and right next to it you have Los Dolores market where you can taste local cuisine like baleadas, plato típico and a great variety of freshly made soups.

Great plaza to hang out and feed the pigeons and take photos. Beautiful cathedral. Good way to experience the culture and get a feel for the city.

We took a break here during our walk around the downtown area. We sat next to a local gentleman who was friendly and welcoming. Easy to find location just few blocks from Parque Central and MIN (museum). There's a large market (safe) just to the right with many shops offering clothing, food, and many other items.
Highlight of the plaza is the statue of San Miguel slaying the Devil and also the lovely church at the end of the plaza.

It's a nice plaza right in the front of the church and market area but the statue of Archangel Michael slaying the devil is the highlight.

I went there with friends and it was a quaint church. The location was hard to find with the streets going in different directions but overall a nice place to visit.
