I remember my grandmother taking me to the zoo/park as a child in the 60s, then taking my children starting in the 80s, and now looking forward to taking my grandson when the weather warms up. It's such a beautiful place situated in an actual...More

Every time we come to Athens we have to make a trip to Bear Hollow. Because of the location and proximity to downtown it's the perfect meeting place for friends and it's always a good way to entertain the kiddos.

This is a small zoo, with only a few exhibits. It's perfect for small children, but older kids would probably find it boring. It's free, which is a plus. We go there if we are looking for something to occupy our two year old granddaughter...More

You're absolutely right! Our zoo is great for small kids, but we've found that it's also popular as a place for picnic lunch dates, school outings, a quite stroll away from the hustle and bustle, and of course as a place to learn more about...More

Entire wildlife exhibit can be viewed in 30 minutes. Very scenic and quaint local attraction. My kids 12 and 9 really enjoyed it.

If you have got an hour to kill and a child to entertain, you will enjoy this lovely little zoo in the middle of the city. It specializes in wild animals that have been rescued and that have some sort of situation making them unsuitable...More

We took our 7 year old grandson to Bear Hollow Zoo and had a wonderful experience. We walked quietly to each exhibit and discussed why each animal was there. Each exhibit clearly explained the habitat and disability of each animal. Our grandson happens to have...More

Hidden away, this is a great place for a quiet walk, lunch, or a visit to the zoo.The zoo has no exotic animals, but has many rescued animals from the area. The park is focused toward children, but can be enjoyed by all.

Not a lot of exhibits, but the area is pretty and it is a place to hang out in the shade for a while. I think this is geared toward younger children, but it was still a nice stop for us. Just beware of the...More

This is a great hidden treasure of Athens! Hardly anyone realizes that Athens has a zoo. What I love about this zoo is that it features a lot of local wildlife so children can really leave about the animals we have here in Northeast Georgia....More

I've never seen anything for sale at the zoo, but it is just a couple of blocks away from all sorts of stores and restaurants. There is a public pool next door that may sell drinks. We bring water in with us.
