Local charm in Athens. This little zoo has a cozy neighborhood feel that is lost in the large city zoos. The animals are well maintained and cared for by the staff and the atmosphere is laid back.

Nice small sized walking zoo with plenty of wildlife to watch fairly up close and personal. Well maintained and clean facility which is important to many people (and animals) Lots of keepers checking in on various animals, cleaning pens and areas and generally showing lots of care. Thanks!

Whether you want to just take a walk in a cool place or have a family picnic. This is one of the fun places for all ages. The have nice playscapes for the kids and if you want you can bring your stale bread to feed to the creatures that make the pond there home. I have always had a... More

Very clean and animals look well cared for. Very informative. Only disappointment was that the reptile house is only open on saturdays for 3 hours.

You walk along an asphalt trail to see several animals and birds' They are well cared for and I am sure quite happy staying there.

If you're lucky there will be some animals out and about to view. We were disappointed that the reptile building is only open on weekends.

Very cute little hidden gem in the middle of the city. Its free to get in and the animals look well taken care of. We've visited many times and will be back many more.

A free park where some animals who cannot be reintegrated into the wild are kept. The enclosures are well maintained. Great for families with young children. Mature trees provide shade all day. 1/2 hour-1hour to see the whole zoo. Animals look healthy in larger than average enclosures. Birchmore Trail and Memorial Park in close vicinity.

My young son loves coming to this small zoo. The bears and eagle are his favorite. I love all of the shade and the nice walk around the pond. There is also a decent size playground, but it is in the direct sun.

I've been there too many times to count, with my own children, and now with grandchildren. The kids love exploring the zoo and seeing many of the animals up close. The playground by the lake is perfect for little ones. The lake is a lovely, peaceful setting for reflection or picnicking.
