Sacred Heart is a truly beautiful building. It was completed and opened in 1900. The church was in continuous use until 1971 when, after several floods, a large portion of their supporters moved to other areas. This beautiful building was nearly torn down, but was purchased and renovated by a private organization in 1987. Now it is used as a... More

My daughter and several others people we know had their weddings and receptions in this place. If you want a magical experience, be sure to book way in advance. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Wonderful place, if you like Historical places this one is for you. The stained glass windows are amazing, best of all free of charge to go and enjoy this beautiful structure.

A beautiful church, well preserved, that now also serves as a cultural center for the city. Lovely stained glass of a type that is seldom seen today. A piece of religious history.

I have been to the SHCC several times for different events. It was wonderfully restored by the Augusta Historical Society and I believe they keep it maintained as well. As a lover of sacred art, I feel moved every time I go there. This place is definitely worth a visit/tour any time you have an opportunity!

This church with its stained glass windows is a must see. The interior is open and the view of the stain glass is excellent. The brochure explains the grafics on the windows and the altars with in the church. There is no cost to enter but donations are excepted.

We were traveling with others and they had set up this visit and we were so pleased with the beauty and history of this church. I would put it on a must see basis if you have any interest in religious history

Sacred Heart use to be a Catholic Church and also had a Catholic School attached to it back in the 60's. Then the Catholic Church gave it up and let it get so run down it was almost demolished! Heaven Forbid!! Thankfully some local historians realized the awesomeness of this beautiful building and raised enough money to restore it. It... More
