Don't bother going anywhere else on the N Shore. You'll get quasi cold coconuts in their insulating husks. If requested, Joe will open up that vessel of nectar and put it in a convenient lidded cup to suck on while you drive the coast and...More

To see a black sand beach is unlike anything you've seen before. I was blown away at the actual beauty of it, and how soft the sand can be after the lava breaks down so much! Turtles were chilling. The water is a bit colder...More

I went at sunset and there were 3 other people and then went at sunrise and only shared the beach with a turtle. The sand is amazing, the turtles are amazing! The sand was so soft, just be careful because you sink into the sand...More

Easy to get to beach. Was not overly crowded and we observed three green sea turtles sunbathing. Water is choppy but let's face it, we're here for the black sand!!

We felt like we struck out both times we visited this beach. Visited once in September and once on Father's day. Both times it was cloudy and too cold for swimming and the water was quite rough. Father's day was extremely crowded. I am giving...More

It was really cool to see a beach made of black sand. The water here was very rough though so not great for swimming and not if you have small children. Seeing where the stream from the waterfall met the ocean was nice. My wife...More

This is my second trip to this beach. It is amazing how different it can look with a different time of day and slightly different lighting. The beach is not large but beautiful and a good place to watch sea turtles come up and rest....More

Must stop here. A lot of black beaches but this is priciest and can snorkel or swim. Look behind and can see old restaurant that got demolished in past

One of my favorite beaches on the island. Always see turtles here. The black sand is soft and warm. The fresh water lake behind has fish and always local folks catching in there... they use rice!!!! It's tough to navigate in the water but you...More

There was adequate parking during our visit. That said, there where still loads of tour buses filled with Chines tour groups.

We went swimming for sure. It definitely is a little rough though so not great for real little ones or for those that are not good swimmers. Both of my children, 13 and 11, had no problem but they're both very good... More

We were there mid day and saw 2 large turtles resting right on shore for awhile and we saw quite a few turtles swimming very close to the shallow shore. I think people would be able to see turtles morning or afternoon.
