Could be nice but full of junk
Dec. 2020
This park could be very nice, but there are homeless camps, junk and trash everywhere, and meetings that look like drug dealings. It’s really too bad they let this otherwise nice spot let go. Oh, if you like fighter jets coming and going, this is the place for you to watch them!

Best To Not Go Outta The Way

Okay definitely sketchy to get to this park. There were locals here didn't seem too friendly, pretty sure drug deals were going on. Cars stopping and going, guys cycling around. If this stuff wasn't happening it'd be an alright place just watch for dog poop. Pretty private place except for the sounds of roaring planes above.

Nice empty beach
Nov. 2018 • Couples
This is a nice local beach with very few people. It is fairly protected so my guess is that it is fairly safe to swim most of the time. It has a sandy bottom, a picnic pavilion and bathrooms. It is close to the airport so the only downside is that airplanes and helicopters fly over regularly. It was a nice spot to enjoy lunch.

Beautiful Coved Beach Beach with a Lagoon
Sep. 2017 • Couples
This was won of the most picturesque beaches when went to. Small waves. Blue water. There is also an outlet of a river forming a fresh water lagoon. The shore goes out a long way before becoming deep. At the time we went the water visiblity for about 2 feet so the snorkeling was minimized to a few minutes. The swimming was great though. The only downfall was the amount of cigarette butts, bottle tops, and other trash on the beach and in the lagoon.

I would rate this excellent but for one thing

I found this little cove to be picturesque and beautiful. The main thing that I did not like about it was that they allow homeless to permanently camp there. It does not feel safe because of that. They surround themselves with junk cars and trash. The beach and water were wonderful other than that. Really Kauai? Maybe you need to address the homeless population before it begins to drive away your main source of revenue which is tourism.

best snorkling ever
Mar. 2017 • Friends
One of a kind place to go. Everyone at every age can snorkel here. You will see some of the most unique and beautiful fish here. It is a must do and the beach is wonderful as well.

Secluded Beach Used Mostly bu Locals
Oct. 2016 • Couples
Turned down Hanamaulu road to try to avoid a traffic jam and ended up on this beach. The area around the beach is not real well maintained. Only folks we saw were locals, who seemed to frown on us being there. It is a beautiful protected area in a little cove.

Well, as far as the state parks go, this one is close to the airport and easy to access, but the area around it is not as well kept as other parts of the island. The hills surrounding the bay look almost dead. We only spent a few minutes there and moved on.

No Tourists

Another nice local beach on Kauai, mostly used by locals. It sits on a cove and is well protected, It's pretty close to Lihue, but not a lot of tourists know about it.

The beach!

How can you not love a beach? This is a beautiful one, with stunning views and nice water. It was not overly crowded, which I certainly appreciate.
