The boat ride on the river to fern grotto was nice but I could barely understand what the driver was saying so I got absolutely nothing out of his presentation. I did enjoy the singing and dancing of the locals on the boat. Thank goodness...More

We were looking for something to do that didn't take all day and wasn't too expensive, so we chose this. The boat ride was fun with the hawaiian singers. I was a little disappointed with the grotto as you could only get close to it...More

This is one of the those things that everyone needs to do at least once. It appears that the Smith Family has been doing these tours for a long time. The boats are large (40-50 passengers), the crew entertains the passengers for every minute of...More

Get there any way you can, by boat, canoe, swim or? Take your time to see trails on either side. Small river to see, bathrooms are there also. Thanks uncle

The boat ride is nice but when you actually get to the grotto it is disappointing. The staff are friendly and they sing a couple of songs and do a Hawaiian dance. You stand on a platform and look at the grotto but you can't...More

We took a river cruise on the Wailua river to see the Fern Grotto. The company we chose is the Smith Family who have been offering tours for many years. It was a delightful ride down the river where they described the area, vegetation and...More

We took a river cruise to get to the Grotto and I saw that kayaks were available to rent as well. You pay for the boat ride, but no more at the grotto. The grotto was damaged with bad weather a couple of years ago...More

This is great for everyone- even kids. Ride on the boat to the Fern Grotto, then a very short hike to the area. Our boat captain kept us entertained on the 2 mile trip up river, then the guy at the fern grotto, entertained us...More

We did the Smith family Fern Grotto tour and then did the luau right after. The boats they take you on for the tour are big and comfortable, easy to get on and off of and would be good for all ages and ability levels....More

This was anticlimactic for our morning of kayaking the river. There were some nice flowers, but nothing special. There are restrooms available. I would not recommend taking a tour just to see this. If you're on the river seeing the other sights, you might as...More

We started slightly up river at Kamokila Hawaiian village. From there, it was maybe ten minutes. If you start at the other kayak rental places at the mouth of the river, it will take you longer. There isn't much to see in... More

From the parking lot to the loading area is just a short walk (20 - 30 yards), with benches to sit on. He could sit there while you walk upstairs to the ticket office to get the tickets. However the benches are not covered... More
