This was our first stop on our kayak trip up river to the Secret Falls. There was a dock for regular boats to access land (which was too high for kayak access). However, in the kayaks we had to be creative. We found a shallow area and climbed out near by. It really wasn't that bad, but plan to get... More

Although not majestic like some places on Kauai, Fern Grotto is worth the time. If you book both the boat ride and the Smith's Family Luau, you'll get a discount, and it is a nice side trip before the luau. The Wailua River isn't that impressive as a river, but views of the forest on the shore makes it feel... More

I went on a cruise ship excursion. The excursion took a boat ride up the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto. The walk from the river to the grotto goes through rain forest and is very scenic. the grotto itself is well worth visiting. i wish you could go inside the grotto, but due to the danger of a rock... I have taken this "tour" so many times that I can practically do the talk story oh the way up and back. But, it is a great little outing for those that have never been, and for one reason or another I always end up having a good time. Just make sure and have bug spray or get some wipes... More

We went to the grotto by boat and walked along an easy path to the Fern Grotto. While at the site we had a local girl sing a song.

Gorgeous, relaxing place on the island! The boat tour included music, hula, and history of the area. Great trip!

We cruised up the river to the grotto and were given a great explanation of the fern grotto plus several songs accompanied by ukuleles. Great relaxing time. You don't want to miss this.

Trip starts in a boat with roof listening and watching Hawaiian singers and dancers. Then we motored up the river, got out of the boat and walked up to the fern grotto. Not too long a walk and they don't rush the slow ones. Once at the grotto, we were given a little history followed by more live music. Our... More

Brought the teens to go to a well talked about view of fern grotto, the teens enjoyed it more than i did. So many other beautiful places to enjoy for free.
