Beautiful place to go, with lots of small walks, but also a couple of longer walks. I went there on a rainy day when all the other hikes got canceled because of flash-flood risk, and this place was still lovely and safe. Great place to stop and have a picnic too and has really beautiful rainbow trees!

Nice for a short diversion to see some really amazing trees. Fairly easy to get to past Opaekaa falls. Short but often muddy hike to see the rainbow eucalyptus tress.

After parking over the river, walked up through the grove of beautifully colored Rainbow Eucalyptus trees - which appear to be the highlight of the forest arboretum. Wandered a little further but for the very novice tree spotter didn’t appear to be much more to see. There is also a very pretty set of Rainbow trees in a somewhat more accessible spot driving into the Kukiolono park and golf course in Kalaheo.
The real purpose of our visit was to walk up the Kuilau Ridge trail from the Trailhead nearby.

I cannot comment on most of the park as we only came to see the rainbow trees . I have never seen so many together so was very happy to see them ! I would say it is worth the drive just for this . There were many people there to hike . Would be a pretty spot for a picnic .

Use this address to find the Rainbow Trees:
7457–7485 Kuamoo Rd
Kapaa HI 96746
Just keep driving Kuamo'o Road all the way to the end. Don't worry about notes of the creek blocking the road; if you have a low clearance car, just park and walk across. These trees are unlike anything anywhere.

We drove right by the arboretum the first time. There is no signage whatsoever. Follow the directions, and as soon as you pass through the river going over the road, park in the parking lot on the right. Across the street you'll see a footbridge, and then you'll see the amazing eucalyptus! There are probably 30-40 of them. There is no traditional entranceway, nor is there a fee.
This area is very accessible. There were people on crutches/canes/walkers, and all were doing well on the well-maintained paths. A wheelchair visitor would have a lot to see.
There are restrooms and some picnic tables. Visiting this lovely spot was my favorite activity on the island! Can't wait to go back.

This is a takeoff place for some of the island's best hikes. West of the parking lot is a hidden pool with rope swing perfect for picnics. If you cross the dam when the water flowing over it is low, and walk up the hill you'll see the beginning of the Power Line Trail that crosses the island. The first part is not inviting but after one eighth mile the ferns and giant trees are magical. Another trail starts just before you get to the parking lot. It takes you on a ridge up to a little shelter with a great view. Directions are in the Kauai Trailblazer guide for both hikes. Kauai's interior is worth seeing and these are easy access.

I had seen pictures of the Hawaiian rainbow eucalyptus trees on the Internet and was hoping to find some on my next visit to Kauai. This park is a host to about 30 easily accessible eucalyptus trees. The park is well maintained. The trees totally lived up to my expectations. Truly beautiful!

Just 10 minutes off the main highway is this "arboretum" which has a nice grove of Rainbow Eucalyptus trees. If the sunlight is just right, the light on the colorful tree bark is amazing. There is a little ford which most cars can easily go through, just make sure to watch out for the little dip towards the end. And there is (was) a nice hole at the entrance to the parking lot on the right, be careful with any low rental cars. Definitely worth a visit.

I know, who wants to leave the beach, but there is more to Kauai than the beach. Keahua Arboretum is your countryside version. It a a little ways inland and close to the mountains, so it's cooler. There is a grassy park area with some picnic tables. The highlight to me is the forest of rainbow eucalyptus trees. They are so colorful and unique. You may not spend hours up there, but I think it's unique beauty is a site to see.
