large, crashing waves on black rocks... gorgeous sand and relatively quiet crowds. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I traveled to the end, away from the busier area... the waters there are protected by reefs so the water itself is a bit quieter. I could've watched the waves for hours, but unfortunately was on a... Tons of parking and a fantastic view of the ocean. Safe for the kids to play on and for mom and dad to soak up some sun and a view that is beyond beautiful

Beautiful sunny day, the beach was busy. We drove just a few 100 feet past the beach and there was additional beach side parking ..... enough beach for everyone! Always watch for the currents, can be strong. We swam out until the current started getting stronger. Saw many different fish.

While hotel accommodations can be very pricey, a great alternative if you are OK with camping is on the North Shore of Kauai at Anini Beach Park. Anini is located just before Princeville on Kuhio Highway coming from Lihue Airport. You need permits but they are only $3 per night. The beach is beautiful, offers safe swimming most days. There... We rented snorkel equipment and my 25 year old son and I had an amazing time... we swam with sea turtles, puffer fish, eels, needle and trumpet fish, to name only a few. We spent hours snorkeling. It was great. One tip: walk to the far eastern end of the beach, so that you can float all the way down... More

Sparsely attended beach which makes it even better! Be mindful of currents and occasional surf. Currents could impede the snorkeling. Bring mask and fins! Often calm, but after strong winds viz can be limited. On a good day, several mid-sized turtles are often there not more than 50 yards off shore. They are very calm , feeding and disinterested in... Easy access, turtles in the protected bay. The coral reef is full of fish, there is a very strong current in this by and while we were there a lady drowned. Listen to the locals. If you use "Kauai Beach" app it is how we managed to stay clear of the dangerous beaches and enjoy our time.

This beach doesn't have a protected swimming area like Poipu beach or lydgate but the water was calm enough for our 2 year old to enjoy. You can park relatively close to the beach which is area plus. It's area long and narrow beach area.

If you are like looking to find a beach off the beaten path, i would highly recommend Annini. You won't find umbrella drinks, but you will find the best part of Hawaii and the ocean as it's meant to be!
