This was our main lava tube and we loved it!

I found a small reference to this lava tube location *somewhere* and we made a point of stopping in on our way to Hana. It is on private property, with parking and portaloos, and for a modest $12 or so we got some information on the tube system and some powerful torches and access to the safe portion of the... More

We visited with our kids and parents and were amazed at the beauty of this site. You are given flashlights and walk down a set of stairs to the entrance. There is no lighting inside the tube which is amazing. Seeing lava in many different states is interesting. You can also see the area used as a shelter for the... More

This place is terrible. Its basically a hole in some guys backyard that he charges too much for while shoving political propaganda down your throat. What a waste of time, gas, and money. These are con artists. Stay away and just enjoy Hana.

The entrance fee is $12, which seems somewhat high. They give you a flashlight and you walk through the tunnel on a self guided tour. The entire visit takes less than an hour. Some of the formations are very beautiful.

I missed this attraction on my first trip to Maui several years ago. I was determined to see it the second time around and am so glad that I did! I encourage everyone to make a quick stop off the Road to Hana to visit the lava tube. Inside, the tube was much more than I had expected - It... More

I wasn't sure if we should stop here on the way to Hana as we had to wait about an hour for it to open, as it does open rather late for those who have made an early start to Hana. We almost didn't wait it out, but I'm glad we did see it. I really enjoyed it, as did... More

We found this in our guide book while on the road to Hana. I must say it was one of the best things we saw in Maui. The other lava tube we experienced on the big island (in volcano national park) is a major let down. They have resurfaced the floor and put lights in. It looks like a man... More

What a great place! We have been to caves on the mainland but nothing compares to this. Well planned for touring and interesting information on the signs along the way. Reasonably priced as well.

We stumbled across this while driving to Kahanu Garden, also worth checking out, but the Hana Lava Tube stole the show. Very cool to walk through and see what a hundreds-year-old volcano eruption caused. The owner, Chuck, is very nice and knowledgable...and a Ron Paul supporter to boot. This will stand as one of our favorite experiences on the island.... More

Learned a bit about the lava flows. they have done a nice job on the attraction. Worth a visit if you like caves and rock like attractions. Rather short. Extreme darkness if you turn off your lites and no one else is around. Oh! And a nice break if you are hot and tired of the humidity.
