Nakalele Point and the Blowhole. It was beautiful- no wind and warm. We hiked down the lava rocks and red clay like Cliffside to the blowhole and were about to give up waiting, for it to blow when they started coming more frequent and stronger. It was awesome! It sprinkled 4 times while we were down there, which made the... More

The bigger the surf, the better the show! Drive to Mile 38 1/2 before walking down to the blowhole. If you park sooner, it's a long hike, up and down, over lots of rock to get there. Wear good shoes. It's a short walk from Mile 38 1/2 but if it's raining, getting down there will be very slippery. Once... More

The way the Nakalele Blowhole looks depends on the tide and winds on a particular day. When we visited, there wasn't a very high blow of water. It was still a wonder to see, just not real spectacular as the pictures showed.

Be prepared to walk over some tough terrain, and for goodness sake, don't wear flip-flops! Once you get down the first couple of inclines (from mile marker 38), you'll encounter a lava field that looks like a lunar landscape and is more difficult to navigate. We saw families with young children make the hike, but be forewarned that there are... More

We followed the TA directions -- highway 30 between markers 38 and 39 (there are 2 markers for 38 keep going). Fruit stand and sign on the left side of highway confirmed the location. We walked a short distance from the parking lot to a spot overlooking the shore to watch. Very impressive blow spout and it was a fairly... More

Easy drive from Lahana with great views to Nakalele Blowhole. Plenty of parking. The water blowing through the hole was fantastic. A easy walk to the blowhole for more pictures. The waves were crashing on the rocks.

This spot is truly amazing and I'd recommend anyone in Maui to visit it! It is a bit of a hike and we did get a bit lost trying to find it but saw more of beautiful Maui on our detour. The blowhole is incredible. It's amazing to see the blowhole spray and hear the ocean roar. Great spot for... More

I went on a very windy day with crazy high surf. It was super exciting to witness the blowhole shooting water 80' into the sky!! Not recommended for small children and older folks on a windy day as it was pretty intense. Good shoes with traction are a must!

Parking area on side of road is adequate. Not a planed walk way down so be careful, but only 5 minutes. The amount of spray in not consistent. You can observe without going to the base for someone that a steep climb would be difficult.

We visited on a very windy day so perhaps that caused the hike to be more challenging. The views driving out and while you hike down are beautiful. I would definitely recommend wearing sneakers because there is not a clear path. Overall very beautiful and majestic to just sit and take it all in.
