This just might be as far as you'd want to go on the "road to Hana," as it is considerably past Hana, even 15 minutes past the National Park. This part of the road gets pretty narrow and bumpy, but we came upon very few cars. The white bridge has "Alelele" stamped into it. You can park just after and access the trail on the right end of the bridge. The hike is just enough adventure (can't see falls from road, some rock scrambling, one time across stream) without too much "fear of heights" climbing.
The canyon is beautifully deep and breezy and the pool under the falls is cool and refreshing. My favorite stop on the Hana side of Maui.

This waterfall is toward the backend of the trek to Hana, and it's one of the better ones. It's pretty impressive, easily accessible, and seemed to be low trafficked, probably because by the time you get here, you've already seen 15 waterfalls.

We've been to the island multiple times and had never been to this falls so we figured we should go check it out. It was pretty but nothing spectacular. It is a short hike in but honestly you can see better falls just driving down the road.

Driving the back road to Hana is certainly a challenge. We have stopped at Alelele Falls three times, and each time it provided a quiet place to enjoy a refreshing swim. It is usually not a raging waterfall, but the cove itself is a unique hideaway. Most people just pass it by because it is hidden from the road.

Hidden secret. If you find the right estuary (location on map) you will find a beautiful waterfall on the dry side of Maui. Past Hana on the dry side you will pass a bridge and a 4x4 parking area next to an estuary half way between Kaupo and Kipajulu. If you hike up the stream about 10 minutes you will find a beautiful hidden waterfall. We had the place to ourselves both times we have been here. bring a camera

One of our audio guided tours for the road to Hana recommend this as one of the last stops around the road… the waterfall is spectacular, best one we saw, but the locals were not happy we went (once we had returned from our hike they had stopped and told us as we were leaving), keep in mind while out there.

April 28, 2023 there is a landslide across the Hana Highway on the Hana side of Alelele . Trees and rocks have closed the road. It is raining and the slopes are unstable .
Not a good day to go to Hana.

Is this private property? I heard it's private property and the owners get very pissed off if you encroach on the property.
