About
This natural wonder on the island of Oahu was formed due to past volcanic activity thousands of years ago. Halona Blowhole now occasionally shoots seawater up to 30 feet in the air because of waves coursing through the underwater lava tubes. The viewing point provides a breathtaking view of Halona Cove, a beautiful beach that has been featured in many movies and music videos. If you visit during winter, you may be lucky enough to witness whales in the nearby waters. You might also want to take a tour to nearby attractions like Hanauma Bay and Koko Crater for an all-rounded experience. – Tripadvisor

    Must see
If you are visiting Oahu you have to stop at this overlook. This part of the island is beautiful! You can see for miles the clear dark blue ocean. We even saw 2 green sea turtles. It was really windy and big surf the day we visited so the blowhole was a blowing. This was one of my favorite stops.

    Windy and worth it !
Timed our visit perfectly - high tide in a windy day with wild surf. Blow hole was working perfectly and awesome to witness. You can pull off the side if the toad and park easily to see the blue home from the top if the cliffs. If really keen you can walk down rocks to small beach below where they have filmed scenes in movies like 50 first dates etc. We didn’t do this or climb the rocks to what I believe is a cave they used to film Aquaman. Great place to stop for a picture and we saw a green turtle swimming!

A neat geological feature along the coast
A pretty neat feature on the island. Off the beaten path a bit but a nice reprieve from the busy city center. Along the coast, beautiful drive. 10-15 minutes is enough to see. Some limited swimming available but we did not take part.

    Great scenery
The blowhole is most active when the tide is high and the winds are strong. Unfortunately when we were there, these conditions were absent and we could not see any waves being caused to shoot high up. Nevertheless, the scenery in the surrounding areas is gorgeous. Many cars stopped here to view the beautiful scenery

    Great spot!
Great stop to cliff jump and swim! We loved this beach as it had great views. Me and my boyfriend also cliffed jumped off the left side. Be careful the current was strong so I would not recommend if you are not a strong swimmer. This is the first place we saw turtles and it was amazing!

    Halona Blowhole
Its a beautiful overlook with plenty of parking. It is paved and wheelchair accessible, with railing for safety. The blow hole is not consistent because of the winds and tides so you have to watch for it. Great views of the coastline even if you do not get to see the blowhole.

This spot has been on my list for a while. It is very easy to get to and well worth a visit. It was very windy, but the views are incredible.

This was a great stop! We were able to climb out on to the rocks and observe the blowhole and then go down to ocean to swim! It was so fun and refreshing! There was also a Hawaiian Monk Seal on the rocks when we were there. That was interesting to watch while we swam. Fun little stop.

We drove by here on the way to the North Shore. Easy to find parking and there were busloads of tourists here to see the same sights. We did not see too much blowhole action but the views were fantastic anyway.

The blowhole was so cool! Majestic views! You can hike down to the surf and on the surrounding cliff as well. An easy drive from Waikiki.

This was so beautiful. You should try to go when it windy and the surf is crashing on the shore. The view on the ride is exciting too

This is a wayside stop with a medium size parking lot along the main road that travels around the southeast corner of Oahu near Makapu'u Point. I stopped here on two separate days and on neither day were the waves right to cause the blowhole effect which was disappointing. It would be cool to see if you're here on the right day but this is not a place to make a special trip to unless you were already planning to be passing by this area. However, the views looking north towards Sandy Beach with the volcanic rock along the coast and the view of the adjacent Halona Blowhole Cove are both pretty cool.

To make a drive just to go see it I thinks it’s not really worth it. It was cool to see it but that’s all it is. Kind of like a costa point. Park at the parking lot and see it then drive away. There’s nothing else just a little tiny beach which seemed rocky and steep to climb up and down the cliff. Not little kid friendly because it seemed deep, narrow beach and just kind of dangerous. We drove to it, stayed there for about 20 minutes and then drove to our next destination.
