There's a lagoon just down from pele's chair where the locals like to jump in. Be careful as it's quite rocky but it's definitely worth the experience. Bring some snorkel masks too and you'll see some colorful fish swimming by your toes.

What a great natural gift of mother Pele. You can see this on the hike to Makena Lighthouse as well. Be careful as the trail can be tricky. Take water and rest breaks. Worth the hike.

This place is absolutely beautiful. We had such fun hanging out near the water and snorkeling. We hiked down to the left (about a 45 minute hike which you need tennis shoes for) to the tide pools which were breathtaking. There were some neat fish to see in the tide pools as well. It was the highlight of our trip. It was rather quiet, compared to Waikiki. The water is super clear and calm. You feel like you're part of the sea without being battered by the huge waves. Best to drive up tho. The nearest bus is quite a walk, from Sea life Park. Worth making that trip.

The path to Pele's chair comes right off the path to Makapuu lighthouse. You go down into a trail within the grass and follow it all the way to a beach clearing.
