We hiked the trail back to this about sunset. Got so great photos. Stayed for awhile and enjoyed the blue lights on the bridge. However, walking back to our car was a challenge. The path from the bridge to the parking lot is not lit....More

Friends too me here one afternoon. We entered the trail head in Madrid, Iowa, and walked about .9 miles to the bridge. The trail at that point is paved and completely handicapped accessible. Walking is easy due to the paving, and it is flat, no...More

We visited the High Trestle Trail Bridge in the Spring. It's a little difficult to figure out where parking is, since we just wanted to walk the bridge. We ended up parking on a gravel road. It is a decent walk, but has plenty of...More

This trial is exceptionally well maintained and appointed. The trail edges were well mowed, the signage is clear, the rest stops are clean and well kept. The bridge over the Des Moines River is fantastic. Great views and access is not too challenging. We have...More

A place to visit (walking or biking) through ... anytime of the day! It is also good that they added another parking area and Grant Wood Trail, a tree-shed walk trail - never boring!

We arrived by bicycle in the late afternoon and stayed until dark to see the lights at night. It is a beautiful site during the day looking out at the Iowa panorama from the Trestle Bridge. The bridge lit up is a must see.

The trail is well maintained and has the advantage of destinations along the route. Good for beer, not for food! The lighted portion is just crossing the river--not the entire high trestle.

This is a fairly flat, asphalt and concrete path. While there are a couple of slight inclines, they're minimal and won't tire you out. Be sure to be on the bridge in the late evening to enjoy the lights!! It's a beautiful... More
